The Young Talent Kickoff 2025 brought our young talents from all over Germany together in Bad Hersfeld for two intensive days full of inspiration, encounters, and shared experiences. A total of 99 participants made the kickoff a real experience—including 57 trainees, 18 dual students, regional training managers, and dedicated trainers. A colorful mix of fresh perspectives, experience, and lots of motivation!

Apprenticeship Integrated degree program Internship

Got your school-leaving qualifications in the bag? Or almost there? Are you wondering what to do next? Then you’re in the right place! Each year, around 80 trainees join GLS in the courier, express and parcel sector (CEP for short). Why choose GLS? It’s simple! We offer diverse prospects and numerous career paths. Whether office management, IT or logistics, you’ll be sure to get top-qualitytraining in a dynamic, future-oriented market.

Your path

• Requirement: good secondary school grades / Entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences / High school diploma (Abitur), for some, a secondary school leaving certificate is enough
• Duration: 3 years
• Locations: Headquarters in Neuenstein or various locations around Germany

Office management clerk

What you'll do: As an office all-rounder, you’ll ensure that everything runs smoothly, whether it be in accounting or purchasing, route support or customer services, in communication or marketing. You have everything under control in the office world. Whether it's presentations, planning or calculations.

What you'll learn: All about accounting, sales and marketing, personnel and quality management plus service and organisation.

Merchant for courier, express and post services

What you'll do: Good planning is everything! As an organisational wizard, you’ll oversee the delivery routes, mode of transport and personnel planning. Communicating our services and offers to customers is no problem for you!

What you'll learn: Everything about accounting, customer service, route management, scheduling, marketing, sales, personnel and quality management

Specialist for courier, express and post services

What you'll do: Amongst the action, not on the sidelines! You are an expert in operations. Processing shipping requests, creating quotes and customer relations are your world. Best of all, you can become a CEP merchant by staying on for an additional year.

What you'll learn: All about deliveries and the fundamentals of commercial business processes.

Merchant for transport and logistic services

What you'll do: You’re in a league of your own when it comes to organising, monitoring and overseeing the entire logistics chain. You’ll keep track of everything from order acceptance to parcel sorting, storage and delivery.

What you'll learn: Everything about accounting, sales, personnel and quality management, route planning, scheduling, service and organisation.

Warehouse logistics specialist

What you'll do: Chaos doesn’t stand a chance with you around! After all, your mission is clear: as a warehouse expert, you’re responsible for everything running smoothly in the halls from parcel storage to customer contact.

What you'll learn: Everything about logistics processes such as the correct loading and unloading of lorries, parcel storage, scheduling and customer service.

Informatics specialist in application development

What you'll do: There’s nothing you won’t find a solution for! At least when it comes to application development. You’re right at home with IT and programming language. This naturally also includes software planning, development and testing.

What you'll learn: Everything about system architecture, hardware and software, programming techniques and customer-specific information and communication solutions.

What you'll do: Your IT skills are your superpower! You master complex IT systems as well as hardware and software issues with ease. As an IT specialist, you’ll be an internal service provider and oversee all IT systems from planning to administration.

Integrated degree programme

Your path

• Requirement: upper level secondary school leaving certificate or A-levels (‘Abitur’)
• Duration: 6 semesters
• Locations: Headquarters in Neuenstein in East Hesse or Germany-wide in one of our six regions
• Degree course: Fulda University of Applied Sciences
• Degree: Bachelor of Science (Business Informatics and Applied Computer Science), Bachelor of Arts (Logistics Management and Buisness Administration)

Logistics management

What you’ll get up to: We’ll turn you into a qualified expert in logistics management. During your dual study program, you’ll get to know all areas of logistics – from organization and operations to quality control.

Your job: Everything revolves around the complex and international transport chain. You’ll analyze current challenges in the industry and help develop business strategies. Along the way, you’ll get to know various departments and gain hands-on experience on site.

Business Administration (B.A.)

What you’ll get up to: We’ll turn you into a qualified all-round talent in business administration. During your dual study program, you’ll learn to understand and manage economic relationships – from finance and law to marketing, digitalization, and human resources management.

Your job: You’ll analyze business processes, support decision-making, and work on projects that drive the company forward. Along the way, you’ll get to know different departments – from controlling and sales to operations.

Business Informatics

What you’ll get up to: You don't know whether you would rather do IT or business studies? Then simply combine the two. As a mediator between business and IT, you digitize administrative processes with the right software solution.

Your job: During your integrated degree programme, you’ll get to know various departments: you’ll spend time in both IT and those departments that want to simplify and improve their processes through IT. The advantage for you is that you can combine both and find out which you prefer.

Applied computer science

What you’ll get up to: IT and the practical implementation in the company are your thing! You analyze and optimize complex information and goods flows that form the interface between the departments, management and users.

Your job: Everything to do with planning and developing information and communications systems in the company and for customers. You’re also responsible for implementing technical solutions, system maintenance and user training. You’ll mainly support the GLS IT departments.

What you can expect

It's all in the mix: Through the combination of theory and practice, you can put what you have learned into practice directly. You are quickly trained and given your own projects. A contact person is always available to support you and help you with questions about your studies. In addition, many great colleagues and a fixed salary await you.

Your path

Internship for technical school pupils

What you’ll get up to

You’ve got your secondary school leaving certificate and want a bit more? Then start a one-year compulsory paid internship with us. During this time, you’ll be part of a team that’s looking forward to getting to know you. It won’t be long before you’re taking on your first independent tasks and, just like our apprentices, you’ll work your way through our various departments.
